Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most successful bands of 90s. Perhaps best classified as alternative rock, The Smashing Pumpkins' style varied from grunge to more ambitious classic rock with orchestral back-up, and even electronica. The band's commercial peak was reached in the mid-90s with the highly acclaimed double-album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, after which subsequent album sales dipped. They disbanded in 2000 (though there are rumours that frontman Billy Corgan wants to reunite the band).
